1 Day Merzouga Wildlife Tour: Birdwatching & Fennec

This one-day wildlife adventure begins with a birdwatching tour around the desert lakes and dunes. This is the best time to spot sandgrouse, desert sparrows, African desert warblers, and hoopoe larks. With luck, you may encounter the African houbara bustard or pharaoh eagle owl.  continue with a guided herpetological tour that focused on reptiles. You’ll learn about the desert monitor lizard, horned viper, Uromastyx, and other species uniquely adapted to this harsh environment.

Later in the afternoon, take a thrilling quad ride across the golden dunes to search for Fennec foxes as they emerge from their burrows before sunset. This moment offers excellent chances for observation and photography.

After dinner, board a 4x4 for a nocturnal wildlife safari. The desert comes alive at night, revealing Egyptian jerboas, gerbils, sand rats, geckos, and, with some luck, the elusive sand cat.
