Your 10 Days Wildlife Tour begins in Merzouga by 4x4 to explore the desert plains, where you’ll observe crowned, spotted, and pin-tailed sandgrouse, along with African desert warbler, hoopoe lark, Egyptian nightjar, desert lark, desert sparrow, and wheatears. Highlights also include rare species such as African houbara, pharaoh eagle owl, and cream-colored courser. With luck, flamingos may also appear at seasonal lakes.

In the late afternoon, switch to ATVs for a 2-hour quad ride through the dunes, tracking Fennec foxes at sunset. The soft golden light enhances both wildlife spotting and photography opportunities.

Begin before sunrise with a 30-minute quad excursion to catch Fennec foxes in their most active hours. Return for breakfast, then continue with a 4x4 birdwatching tour to find species missed the day before, including sandgrouse, African houbara, and streaked scrub warbler.

Around midday, return to your hotel for lunch and a rest before the evening sessions. In the late afternoon, head out again on quads to track Fennec foxes as they emerge before sunset. After dinner, embark on a nocturnal desert safari by 4x4. Spot Egyptian jerboas, sand rats, gerbils, fat-tailed gerbils, northern elegant geckos, and with luck, the elusive sand cat.

Start the day with a sunrise camel ride, experiencing the stillness and golden glow of the Sahara dunes. Return for breakfast, then explore nearby oases and nomadic settlements by 4x4. This cultural experience reveals how desert communities live in harmony with their harsh environment.

In the evening, enjoy a final quad ride to spot Fennec foxes as the sun sets behind the dunes of Merzouga.

Depart Merzouga by 4x4, journeying off-road through Berber villages such as Alnif, Hssiya, Taghbalt, and Zagora. This long but scenic route offers both wildlife opportunities and insight into desert life.

Arrive in Mhamid, the gateway to the Sahara’s deep desert, and settle in for an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Before sunrise, drive to Oued Naam, a habitat for ostriches, addax, dama gazelles, and dorcas gazelles. The early morning light gives the best chance to observe these species.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild, then continue to the remote Chegaga dunes where you’ll overnight in a desert camp under a star-filled sky.

Rise early for birdwatching in Chegaga, focusing on Ichenstein’s sandgrouse, spotted sandgrouse, and crowned sandgrouse. These rare species thrive in this remote desert area.

After a picnic lunch, continue searching for addax, dama gazelle, and dorcas gazelle. The evening is spent in Chegaga camp, surrounded by towering dunes.

Start at sunrise with a search for black-bellied sandgrouse and cream-colored courser, while continuing to look for Ichenstein’s sandgrouse. Birdlife is abundant in this quiet, remote desert.

Enjoy a picnic lunch before departing for Tagounite, where you’ll overnight. Along the way, look out for additional desert birds and mammals.

Travel by 4x4 across the Bohiyara Plateau, a prime habitat for Uromastyx, African houbara, trumpeter finch, and more sandgrouse species. This off-road journey brings you close to the Algerian border, offering unique wildlife encounters.

Arrive in Tafraout and check in at your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, set out in search of sandfish, a fascinating desert-adapted reptile, near Tafraout. Share lunch with nomads for an authentic cultural encounter.
